How Does Your Garden Grow?

Welcome to our home!  As you can see our front beds have grown in quite a bit.  

Our Day Lilies up close and personal.

 

 Last year, we had the fountain here, but the Day Lilies wicked all of the water out of the fountain.  This year, we replaced it with our gazing ball.   

 The Hydrangea bushes are about ready to bloom!

This is the side of the porch.  My Lemon Balm is out of control!  As soon as I took these, I cut it back to allow the Black Eyed Susan plants some room to bloom.  

You can see the fountain just behind the giant Hosta plant.  I'm still waiting for blooms on them.  The temps here have been much cooler than expected, causing some delays in blooms and harvest of veggies.

Another Garden Added

The second part of the back porch border garden is in now. Above is the Oak Leaf Hydrangea and some hosta on the side.

The red flowers are Astilbe. In the center is a Bleeding Heart plant and the plant on the right is a perennial geranium. Soon the lattic will cover the stuff under the porch.

It's taken three years to get this many blooms from this plant. I'm so tempted to dig it out and plant it at the new house, but am not sure if the transplant would hinder it from blooming again this summer. I just love it!

Show and Tell Friday, June 5, 2009

I thought I would share some of the plants in my gardens and yard. I love our backyard during the spring and summer months because it becomes so private and intimate in the middle of our busy city neighborhood.

These are our hostas and my book fairy on the shaded side of the house. I love the contrast of the bright green and white against the dark brick of the house.

These are the flowers of the white bleeding heart plant in the bed by the garage. The rounded leaves are from the black eyed susans beside it.

There are actually two plants here. You can see the blooms on the chives, as well as the bright leaves of Lemon Balm in our herb garden.

Tarragon

I can't remember the name of this plant. Anyone? This is a cluster of three plants.

One of our first Stella D'Oro daylily plants to bloom.
