Home Improvements

 While we were out shopping for the beadboard for the porch, I checked out some tile for a backsplash in the kitchen.  We decided to buy one 12x12 section of tile to see how if it coordinates with our kitchen.  I like the look of it, especially the metallic squares that pull out the colors in our hardware.  The board that matches the countertop will be removed before we add any type of backsplash.  Any thoughts on this tile?  (My photos stink, but you get the idea.)

 Onto the actual project...as you know, we added a porch to the back of the house last spring.  Time ran out and we never did get the ceiling put up.  Today we purchased the beadboard to complete the ceiling.  Above is a before picture, below is the beadboard started.  J has decided to paint the boards before creating the ceiling, so the ceiling should be completed tomorrow or early this week.

Summer Home and Patio

My new cloche...not sure if I love the display or not. I think I need to add some fabric to it...

I just love burning a candle on my kitchen island. It reminds me to say a prayer for my family each time I walk by it. I just changed the berries for summer and added the sticker to the candle jar. A little country for me, but I love it.

The tray is from Thirty-One, the birds from Michael's and the lantern from Lowe's. This is on the porch coffee table.

My display on the porch plant stand. I did have a plant there, but the chipmunks dug in the pot and chewed the stem of it. Darn chipmunks!

Deck Update

Rafters are on....

....soon there will be a roof!

If the weather improves, it could be done by next weekend. I ordered our new patio furniture and am itching to get some landscaping started in the front and back of the house.

Around the house....

As you all know, we're adding a porch to the back of our house. I am thinking about purchasing the above furniture for the porch. We already have a bronze table and chair set, and thought this wicker would soften things up and still coordinate. Our house is blue, but the pillows have the same blue in them so I thought if I added the paisley pillows to the green cushions as well as some solid or striped pillows that it would coordinate beautifully. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

These are the pulls and knobs I bought today for the den desk. I think the pull has a lot of character and hope it will add something to the newness in the house.

Miss M had dance pictures today. Here she is in her costume at the studio just after having her picture taken. I think she looks too cute!

The Back Porch

This is the back of our home, where dh is adding on our back porch.

Here are the holes we dug for the concrete supports. Yes, I was the other "man" on the two-man post digger. LOL

This is a view of the deck from the yard earlier this afternoon.

Now the cross supports are in and the posts for the roof are in place.

I'm so thankful that dh is handy and can do these kind of projects.
