First Communion Day

Our daughter on her First Communion Day

Miss M made her First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 5th.  Here are some of the photos from her special day.  Mass was at 10 am, then the parish had a reception following for the children.  We then hosted a luncheon at our home for our family.

Above is the altar cloth made from the banners each of the children designed and made.

The children renewed their Baptismal promises, while holding their Baptismal Candles.

During the Offertory, the children brought a rose to their mothers.  Loved that!

Maddie read a prayer petition she had written.

First Communion Party

Miss M made her First Holy Communion on Sunday, May 5th.  We hosted a luncheon following the mass for family.  The food buffet, pictured above, included a cheese platter, BLT dip with Beer Bread, Deviled Eggs, Veggies and Dip,  Sliced Baked Ham with Hard Rolls, Macaroni Salad, Potato Salad, and Tossed Salad.  There was plenty of food and more than enough leftovers.

For dessert, I made frosted sugar cookie cut-outs.

A local cake baker made the cake.  It was as delicious as it looks!

I made chocolate cupcakes topped with whipped frosting.  I made the cross cupcake picks, too.

I also had personalized lollipops and small popcorn containers filled with kettle corn and cinnamon popcorn on the dessert buffet.  The banner is from Etsy.

First Communion Sneak Peek...

Miss M had her First Holy Communion Pictures taken on Wednesday evening, so I snapped a few photos of my own.  This one is my favorite.

First Communion Lollipops

I wanted to have a small token of thanks for everyone who attends Miss M's First Communion Party.  I ordered the swirl pops from Oriental Trading.  They came with stickers to personalize the pops.  I added ribbon to the sticks and arranged them in floral foam inside a pink bucket that I bought on clearance after Easter.  I filled in the gaps with pink paper shreds.

One more thing done on my to do list!

First Communion Veil

I had a hard time finding First Communion clothing in our area.  I did travel out of town and found a dress for Miss M's big day.  It's much simpler than I would have chosen, but it's the girl's big day and she gets to pick.  I ended up buying materials to create a veil .  I picked up the plain veil at Michael's.  I bought the white satin headband and flowers for embellishment at JoAnn's.

I removed the comb from the veil and sewed the short part of the tulle to the satin that was in place to hold the hair comb.  We tried the headband with the short piece showing and it just wasn't right.  Then I hot glued the veil to the headband.  Once that was in place, I hot glued the flowers to the headband, putting the larger one first, then nestling the smaller ones in the center of each.

Here's the view from the front.  I think it came out okay.  My girl is all about simplicity for this day.  If M is happy, Mama is happy!

Random....

We've been pretty busy this last month, but finally things are slowing down.  My dear friend's daughter got married last weeked.  We had a really nice time at the wedding reception.

The beautiful floral centerpieces on some of the tables.  I loved the pink and gray scheme.

We also attended the annual hockey banquet for travel hockey this month.   Above is H with the team's PAHL Season Champions Banner and....

...with the team's PAHL Playoff Champions Banner.  Both banners will hang in the home arena...The Cambria County War Memorial Arena.    H was also awared the PAHL Academic All-Star Award for his high level of achievement in school while playing hockey.  We're very proud of our son!

First Holy Communion preparations continue.  I found some beautiful paper goods for the party.  I decided to make Miss M's veil.    I will post pictures as soon as it's done.   The school year is winding down...can I get an Alleluia?!...it's been a tough few months.

Thanks for stopping by!
